Coaching Youth Sports
Eight years ago my oldest daughter was entering Pre-K. Being a huge sports fan, I couldn't wait for her to play sports. Baseball, basketball, football, hockey, I didn't care. I just wanted her to play.
But when I got her to school I realized that sports programs for this age didn't really exist. Especially in a Catholic school where most CYO sports start after second grade. This kind of bummed me out. I did some research and learned that all the "experts" were against the idea of organized sports for children this young. I understood where they were coming from, but I didn't exactly agree.
Three to four year olds can be taught basic sports skills. Just as they learn their abc's, they can learn to kick a ball or swing a bat. Now before you get the wrong idea and think I'm a crazy fanatic dad, hear me out.
I also knew that kids this age like to just run around, don't really want to be told what to do, and most important of all just want to have fun. So in cooperation with another parent, we put together what we referred to as "clinics". The idea was simple, get some kids, let them run around & have fun, and at the end of the day teach them a little something.
This worked well. We ran clinics for preschoolers in soccer, basketball & t-ball. The kids had a lot of fun and so did we. Looking back, these were the best times to coach. The coaches had no expectations, the parents had no expectations and the kids had a blast.
As my daughter got older though, coaching her various teams, got a lot more complicated, and a little less fun.
First of all, running an after school clinic for 45 minutes a week, is not a huge commitment. Especially if you're lucky enough to have a flexible work schedule. But coaching travel soccer? Three one and a half hour practices a week + a game on Sunday + youth licensing classes, this wasn't an easy thing to fit into my schedule at all. There would be a huge commitment involved in making this work. But my daughter insisted I coach and I did.
It turned out to be a great. While it wasn't as much fun as teaching a 4 year old to hit off a tee, coaching girls soccer turned out to be very rewarding. I think not only did I make a difference in my daughter's life, I like to think I help quite a few girls develop an appreciation for soccer as well as a love for sports.
My point here. Oh yeah. Even with all the "negative" aspects of youth sports the fundraising, politics of certain youth organizations, crazy parents, or the missed hours at work, the time spent with my daughter as her softball, t-ball, soccer coach, has been amazing.

All over the place you set near seems to befall an alternative public notice guaranteeing, "Amazing Abs in the sphere of just 3 minutes a time!" or else promising with the aim of you'll, "Lose 10 pounds in the sphere of in a minute 1 Week!".
Many hockey training programs willpower agreement players a "Harder Slap-Shot in the sphere of just 6 Sessions!" and promise "Phenomenal Fitness in the sphere of in a minute 4 Weeks!". In a minute like the weight-loss and stomach destruction programs, these hockey programs might bring about in the sphere of the short-term. But inescapably, afterward a month or else so, you are missing asking, "What's subsequently?". The types of changes with the aim of can befall made in the sphere of in a minute 4 condensed weeks of training willpower not befall long-lasting, if not they are correctly educated and toughened on a added long-term basis.

That's it - rebuff expensive exercise room memberships or else expensive equipment and rebuff added driving around to an alternative training flair or else rink.
Summer hockey training doesn't need to befall complicated in the sphere of order to befall of use. In the sphere of piece of evidence, simpler is better.
Off-ice off-season training programs need to lecture to the precise needs of babies hockey players, befall reachable to all players and befall appropriate in lieu of their long-term fit development in the sphere of order to befall of use.
