Are the Rangers finally turning things around on home ice?
Let Sean Avery be Sean Avery! After Avery had his best night point wise in the NH with one goal and three assists he also played his role. The Agitator!
Maybe it had something to do with the team he was playing? The Dallas Stars the team who cut Sean and is still paying 3.875 Mil of his contract through the 2011-2012 season.
What ever it was Avery hasn't played his role since being scratched in last seasons playoffs when J. Torteralla wanted to show him who's the boss. In a deserved but questioned decision Avery has not played the real under your skin in your face type of game since then. Come playoff time and in big games I think you will start seeing this side of him more often.
Last night he let loose getting under the skin of Dallas goalie Marty Turco. Turco was quick to call him a delinquent after the game.
With Avery's big night his team followed. Lundqvist had another only two goals against night. The Penalty kill was awesome! Stopping all six of six chances and even killed off a 5-3 for :54 seconds.
Gabby added another goal to his great season, while Rangers also got scoring from Avery, Dury, Callahan and Kotlik. As Higgins, Kotlik and Christensen regained confidence last game against Boston, I promised confidence was everything in hockey in my last article and stated one of those guys would score in the next game. Kotlik's goal stood up to be the game winner.
Rangers are three for three in getting points in 2010 at home going 2-0-1. Tonight the Rangers face off with a hot team of late the Thrashers in Atlanta who have been 7-1-2 in their last ten. Rangers have a five point lead on Atlanta in the Standings and tonight could provide more of a cushion on them with a win.
With all that said, Will the Real Sean Avery please stand up again!

Montreal Canadiens Surprise The Washington Capitals
As Alex Ovechkin found a way to shoot the puck right past Canadiens goalie Jaroslav Halak at the beginning of the third period, the crowd roared in amazement and there seemed to be more hope in the loyal Caps fans' eyes that Washington would take down Montreal.
Unfortunately for Washington, one of the officials discovered that Ovechkin's linemate Mike Knuble was inside the goal crease despite the replay suggesting differently. There was no goal and the Washington Capitals fell bitterly to the Montreal Canadiens with a 2-1 loss, ending their season in the play-offs.
It was surprising to see Montreal pull this off after experiencing a three-games-to-one deficit against highly skilled Capitals, who were standing with the NHL's best record of regular season.
The top three NHL teams within the Eastern Conference have no been eliminated and Montreal will move on to their second round on Friday against the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Philadelphia Flyers will also move on this Saturday to play against the Boston Bruins.
In light of Ovechkin's and the Washington Capitals' embarassing downfall, Montreal goalie Halak made a huge difference in the outcome of the game. He made 41 saves during the game while teammates Marc-Andre Bergeron scored in the first period and Dominic Moore scored a second game-sealing goal at the end of the third period.
Brooks Laich of the Capitals cut the game in half with his spirit-lifting goal in the last two minutes of the game, but the Capitals could not pull it together to tie the game up before the end of the third period, even with a power play.
There are probably a lot of hockey pools out there missing one major producer - Alex Ovechkin. An intense game overall, the Canadiens are rewarded with their advancement in the playoffs. The games will go on as eager fans wait out the opening game of the Montreal Canadiens versus the very powerful Pittsburgh Penguins in couple of days.
