In many cases, a field hockey camp is the place where high schoolers go to be noticed by college recruiters, no matter what grade they're in. Older groups are given instruction and guidance in weight training and prime physical conditioning. They're also able to participate in tournaments and games that serve to bring out their best skills and teach them how to work on weak skills as well.

For the most part, the teaching staff at a field hockey camp is made up of veterans of the game, both recreational and professional. In many camps, counselors and coaches play on college or professional teams, and are able to share their experiences and techniques with players of all ages and skills levels. Most field hockey camps are available during summer sessions for many age groups, though the best are reserved for high school age kids who stay at a camp in late summer or early fall.

In such cases, attending such a field hockey camp is much like living in a dorm in college, where two people generally share a room and students are required to bring their own bedding and clothing. In such a case, it is mandatory that students have their own hockey sticks, mouth guards and shin guards, while other personal items may also be required.

If you like field hockey and want to experience the ultimate in training, consider attending a field hockey camp. The skills and techniques you'll learn will last a lifetime, as will the overall experience of playing with kids from around the country.
