Skates: go with Easton. They are more durable than the Bauers. The RBK Pumps hold in sweat and water too much.

Sticks: again, it depends. If you are looking at the new O-stick (8.0.8, or 6.0.6), go with that. If you are looking at the old O-stick (9K), go with the Easton S-17. The old o-stick's kickpoint is too high on the shaft and the heel cracks too easily and the lower part of the shaft (the power ports) will break after a really good slapshot. The S-17 has a tapperd shaft which lowers the kickpoint, giving you quicker release on shots and a stronger shaft. The One95 is blade heavy and is overpriced and performs just as well as the S-17.

Elbow pads: both are just as good. CCM is my preference here.

Gloves: All three brands are just as crappy. Consider either Warrior or Eagle

Helmets: all helmets offer generally the same type of protection proportionate to their price. You really get what you pay for here. heres a good tip: if you pay less than $30 for a helmet, its going to be uncomfortable and protection will be substandard. $60-$100 is a good price range for a decent helmet. Don't just use the "mirror test" here. Remember, a helmet can be the difference between an hour long headache, and a carreer ending concussion. I'd reccomend either the RBK 6K, RBK 8K, or the NikeBauer 5500.

Pants: NikeBauer sucks. Check out Eastons Stealth line, S5 or higher.

Shin Guards: Use the same guidelines as you would for a helmet. Anything over $50 will serve you well. Examine these carefully. The thicker the foam that wraps around your leg, the better off you'll be. The plastic on the front is important, but even low-end gear is good at stopping pucks. When you try them on, wear your skates so you have a good idea on how they will feel.

Shoulder pads: RBK 6K, RBK 8K, or CCM V08's, are the models I'd reccomend. NikeBauer offers too little protection around the collar bone, and the padding around the kidneys is too thin.
