What are the best ice hockey goalie pads?
I'm a junior in size and would like the price range to be around $200-500.
The best goalie pads are the pads that are best for you. You want to consider the way you are going to play. If you are really good at controlling the puck then you might be able to get away with pads that have big rebound spring. However, if you have trouble controlling rebounds you will want pads that absorb the puck a bit more to give you more time to corral the biscuit.
Make sure you follow the sizing charts. There are quite a few sites that will help you with this. Throw out a Yahoo search for them.
Also, are you going to be standup, butterfly, or hybrid. That might be a good thing to know for how tight of pads you want.
Whatever you do, do not buy pads just because some NHLer wears them (unless they are right for you that is). Check with a hockey shop. Check around as to what shop has the best rep for helping people get the right equipment rather than what's most expensive.
